Together with 180 other countries, we will roll up our sleeves for 17th September 2022.
WORLD CLEANUP DAY 2022
On Saturday, 17th September 2022 we will clean up the planet on World Cleanup Day. At this largest worldwide cleanup event of the year, we give the planet a big cleanup together with more than 180 countries. Our goal? To clean up as much litter as possible! And above all, to get more valuable information about the type of waste on the streets and in the environment and its origin. That insight is indispensable in finding structural solutions.

Good preparation is half the work! Especially for anyone who has organized a clean-up campaign, there is a toolkit with promotional materials and a handy checklist with all the tips to make a success of a clean-up. The toolkit and checklist will be available on the website from June!
CLEAN-UPS IN NATURE RESERVES
NGOs, forest rangers, nature organizations, charities and foundations. We want to join forces with your organization to set up an action for nature reserves, in this way we want to clean and monitor entire nature reserves. Are you participating this year? Contact us. Together we create attention for the increasing amount of litter in nature.
TOGETHER WE MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Every year on World Cleanup Day vast amounts of waste is removed from the environment. Last year, 20 million volunteers cleaned up in the 24 time zones between New Zealand and Hawaii. An unprecedented success! (Plastic) pollution is high on the global agenda, and that is unfortunately necessary. The production of plastic is still increasing every year, and a significant part of that ends up in our rivers and seas.
CLEANUPS & RESULTS
On World Cleanup Day 2021, action groups, associations, companies and organizations organized clean-ups all over the Netherlands. This year more than 90,000 items were registered with the Litterati app. These clean-ups can be found on the digital map. See here the results and which clean-ups took place.
