CORONAVIRUS
PREVENTION MEASURES
World Cleanup Day 2021 will look different than you are used to because of the coronavirus. On the 18th of September, we still have to be careful. That is why we always keep a distance of 1.5 meters between each other. This page has listed all the measures for cleanups, and we will update it with any developments.
The rules below are important during the cleanups. These rules have been drawn up in consultation with the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment – RIVM.
- Make sure to keep 1,5 meters distance from each other. Cleaning up on your own or in small groups is the safest.
- Stay away from vulnerable people such as the elderly and people in poor health.
- Stay in your neighborhood as much as possible when picking up litter to avoid crowds.
- Always wear rubber or latex gloves when picking up litter and/or use a picker. Throw gloves in the bin after use. Important: do not throw disposable gloves with the plastic waste, but with the residual waste.
- Do you find litter that you don’t trust? Leave it there.
- Dispose of litter directly into a waste bin.
- Do not share gloves, grippers, or drinking bottles.
Furthermore, the general rules:
- Always keep 1.5 meters of distance from others.
- Do not go outside if you have a fever or other flu symptoms.
- Clean your hands often and thoroughly. Wash them with soap for at least 20 seconds.
- Do not shake hands or touch your face.
- Use paper handkerchiefs and dispose of them in a waste bin immediately after use.
