The 15-year old Indonesian Nina, (born in 2007) may be a young environmentalist, but making an enormous impact in achieving her life's goal: to stop the transport of plastic waste from Europe to her homeland and other countries. 

By creating awareness for the import of plastic waste from industrialized countries, Nina wants to achieve this life goal. As an young environmentalist she has spoken at summits such as the Plastic Health Summit in Amsterdam last October. She also attended the COP26 in Glasgow to join the screening of the documentary Girls For Future, of which she was a part of.

She fights tirelessly to give the people of Indonesia the opportunity to grow up in a healthy and clean environment, without (illegal) plastic waste contaminating their drinking water and sidewalks.

WHO ARE WE, THE PLASTIC SOUP FOUNDATION?

Stop the plastic soup tsunami as soon as possible! In short, that is the mission of the Plastic Soup Foundation. If that doesn't work, we will leave are future generations with the consequences of a terrible plague. Plastic Soup Foundation is therefore a 'single issue' environmental organisation. We are focused on one thing: stopping plastic pollution at its source.

In order to achieve that goal, we like to put our finger on the sore spot, especially with industry and government. If you raise or donate money to Plastic Soup Foundation this year, we are able to continue our work, we do that by;

1. We lobby for a ban on the trade in plastic waste to countries outside the EU and a stricter approach to illegal trade.
2. With our studies and campaigns, we go after the biggest polluters and ensure that they stop using single-use plastic and switch to reusable alternatives.
3. We help you and other consumers to live plastic-free with advice and apps specially developed for you, such as My Little Plastic Footprint and Beat the Microbead.
4. We partner with heroes like Nina and many others around the world in their fight against plastic pollution.
